Web Design Training Foundations Courses

Self-Paced Courses Option with WebProfessionals.org Certification Exam Option

Introduction

The Web Design Foundations Courses are a “Self-Paced and Instructor Led” set of courses with the option to take the WebProfessionals.org Web Design certification exam option. Those who choose this option also receive a subdomain on one of our servers where assignments can be posted. Additionally, you will be able to work with a mentor to help you better understand what is happening in the industry today.

The Web Design Training Foundations Courses are designed to guide the student to understanding and competency in the fundamentals of Web design. In order to become successful in the Web design field, it is essential to master the concepts, techniques, and languages that are currently in demand. In looking at the wide range of technologies currently in use on the web, however, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the variety of techniques and technologies being deployed today.

This course is ideal for:

  • Students just getting into the field
  • Instructors who want to teach Web design
  • Working professionals who want a refresher course with certification exam option
  • Working professionals with experience in print design who wish to learn Web design

WebProfessionals.org courses are designed to provide a good foundation in the fundamental technologies that are in use today, as well as provide training for those technologies which have emerged as stable platforms for development. This allows the student to focus on the essential technologies they really need to know, and provides focus on the technologies that appear to be the industry leaders rather than simply “following the fads” that may or may not be around in a few years.

The following list of courses are included in the Web Design Foundations course package:

This course offers an introduction to creating web pages, including:

  • Learn HTML
  • Using the W3c Validator

  • An overview of how e-commerce works

Who should take this course: This course is designed for beginning web designers, and starts from the assumption that the student has not ever coded a web page. It would also be a good course for a designer who is self-taught, and who feels as though there are gaps in their fundamental knowledge. By the end of this course, the student will be able to create a basic website that is standards compliant and validates when run through the HTML code validator at the W3c site, and which uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for the page formatting.

What is included: Guided readings, hands-on labs, audio/ video lectures for selected topics (captioned), hands-on challenges (with solutions if you need them), constructive feedback from instructor on all assignments, and the ability to redo labs until understanding and a satisfactory grade is achieved.
